Afghanistan is changing side by side with the world in many eras. Education opportunities have been improved enormously for girls after the new Afghan government took charge.

The territorial structure of Afghanistan is still a challenge for the children to overcome to have an education in schools, as the educational institutes are far from the rural area and very difficult for children to attend daily.

Further, besides lack of school, some issues prevail in the Afghan societies, such as lack of teachers, safety, and to some extent, opposition from families to girls’ education.

However, one father put the conservative approach aside and tried to give their daughters a better education for a better future. It is not the end of the story; he lived in the southern province of Paktika, and from his home, he travelled about 12 kilometres daily on a motorcycle to drop off his three daughters at school. He stays there for about four hours and brings them back with him. Khan has three sons and eight daughters. Three daughters are in school, and the rest are too young.

“Every day I take them on a motorcycle to school. I bought the motorcycle for them so I can bring them back and forth. I am trying as best I can. I am determined to get them educated. It is 12 kilometers distance; we go back and forth every day.

It’s been 7 years, two of my daughters are in 7th grade and the other is in 6th grade,”

Mia Khan told VOA.
